IndyMedia Journalist Killed

On the 28th, news started to circulate about the death of an American journalist for NYC Indymedia covering some of the protests and riots in Mexico.

The protests have been going on for nearly five months in efforts to force the state governor to resign. Teachers and leftist activists are trying to have him removed on the base of abuse of power. It is a sad time in our realm to see one of our own die. The journalist, featured above, was Brad Will. He was killed during a clash between protestors and pro-government gunman. He was caught in cross fire and was killed.

Let us all pay respect for a man who died in what he believed in, the people, the movement, solidarity, liberty, equality.

Brad’s last video can be found online: IndyMedia, Torrent

BBC NEWS | Americas | Pentagon mounts media offensive

So, I stumbled across this article on the BBC that the Pentagon has formed a new unit to bring “awareness” to the media and nation about what is really happening in Iraq.

The US Defence Department said it would expand its public relations work to fight “inaccurate” news stories.

This action is of course led by no other than Donald Rumsfeld, who said that polls don’t matter due to the fact public opinion changes so much. As support for the war in Iraq falls, and mid-terms are comming up, this is a perfect swoop to try to heighten the approval of republicans and insert a new reign over the media.

They’re inserting high politicians and other authorities into news interviews and also creating “new media” to be aired. Our country talks about how in North Korea the telelvision news supports only what Kim wishes, well, what is Bush creating?

A spokesman said the unit would monitor media such as weblogs and would also employ “surrogates”, or top politicians or lobbyists who could be interviewed on TV and radio shows.

The Homes

I got bored at work, where I am now, and decided to check out Google Maps. I looked at the old house, and realized that they had updated the images (images are about 6 months old) and noticed that it covers when the house was pretty much done, I think.

UPDATE: Okay, so the picture was sometime in summer, and the pile of white near the driveway was siding for the house, and the sidewalks weren’t poured yet, neither was the driveway, so it was sometime earlier this summer, fitting the glove of six months a lot better than what I guessed. So probably mid-April. Thanks Dad.

Let Us DANCE

Black Bloc
It’s time to dance.

I’m sick of it, I’m sick of all the corruption and nothing being done, I’m sick of seeing our rights raped in front of our eyes. I think it’s time for war, it’s time for a revolution. It’s time to give workers their rights, it’s time to mobilize the labour unions, it’s time to bring communities together, it’s time to take our lives back. The government should fear us, not us fearing them.

Our government has become one like that of a fascist, and has been. You cannot go on a plane if your name happens to be common and fit the tailoring the TSA No-Fly-List. Everyone is on edge as to what they can say due to domestic spying, while the nationalist says “Why be afraid if you have nothing to hide?” I have nothing to hide, I don’t feel like being tossed in jail for exercising my rights.
It’s now, we need to take action. Hell, maybe not this moment, why not on the presidential elections, massive riots and demonstrations accross the nation. At city halls, polling stations, police stations. But this time when the police come with batons and mace and tear gas, we come back with our own. I’m sick of taking this, I’m sick of sitting down and waiting, I can’t stand where this nation is heading.

Political action is taking too long, politicians are too corrupt from capitalist gain, let us take this into our own hands, let’s use some direct-action, let’s take our country back.

Cigaro

So yeah, I’m in my new room, it rocks, it is nice not to room with Gryffyn. That was an interesting event, I don’t feel like reliving it by typing it out, I’ll get pissy. My parents visited this weekend also, that went all right.

Casey, Guidry, Jennie, and Jennie’s roommate Allison are watching Animal House, I’m just listening to music and doing homework.

My parents brought up my skateboard, I’ve been on that so much lately, it is nice, nice way to vent out, turns out a few people I know have been wanting to just go skate around, so we have been.

Classes are getting easier, I think it is because I’m finally in a comfortable environment.

How the Brits roll in Iraq.

Yeah, so below is a lovely link that shows how appropriate troops in Iraq are.

Merciless Demo Release!

NMD Records 002 is about to be released in a few weeks! Merciless is recording, which is simply amazing in my mind. Brian, Mark, and Justin are actually going pretty forward with the band, and on November 4th they are playing their first show!

Songs will be handed out on CD, and available for download a week after the release.

“The Internet is turning people into terrorists”

Disaffected people living in the United States may develop radical
ideologies and potentially violent skills over the internet and that
could present the next major U.S. security threat, U.S. Homeland
Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said on Monday.

“We now have a capability of someone to radicalize themselves over
the internet,” Chertoff said on the sidelines of a meeting of
International Association of the Chiefs of Police.
“They can train themselves over the internet. They never have to
necessarily go to the training camp or speak with anybody else and that
diffusion of a combination of hatred and technical skills in things
like bomb-making is a dangerous combination,” Chertoff said. “Those are
the kind of terrorists that we may not be able to detect with spies and
satellites.”

Chertoff pointed to the July 7, 2005 attacks on London’s
transit system, which killed 56 people, as an example a home-grown
threat.
To help gather intelligence on possible home-grown attackers, Chertoff
said Homeland Security would deploy 20 field agents this fiscal year
into “intelligence fusion centers,” where they would work with local
police agencies.

FDA Plans to Approve Products of Clone

Farmers and companies that have been growing cloned barnyard animals
from single cells in anticipation of a lucrative market say cloning
will bring consumers a level of consistency and quality impossible to
attain with conventional breeding, making perfectly marbled beef and
reliably lean and tasty pork the norm on grocery shelves. But groups
opposed to the new technology, including a coalition of powerful food
companies concerned that the public will reject Dolly-the-Lamb chops
and clonal cream in their coffee, have not given up.

This is bad. All ready many species of domesticated farm animals are going extinct as breeding of animals is cut down. We’re getting inbreds, new genetic diseases are on the rise, and new viruses immune to current vaccines are growing. By giving the approval on clone animals, this will only spread faster. Currently it is slowed down due to the fact there is some variation left, these cloned animals will all have the same weaknesses, which could lead to an eventual mass death.

Now there is the fact that local farmers will not be able to compete with corporate farms who clone mass amounts of cows, unlike the local farmer which has to breed. It’s going to unbalance everything.

Not to mention that products won’t, most likely, be branded whether their from cloned animals. I want the choice to atleast buy products made from natural cows, with the hope a real farmer somewhere benifits.

Slow day.

It’s been a slow day. Woke up, conversed with Gryffyn, went to classes. Went to work. Worked on the New Randi layout, some homework. Got back, walked to Busar to pick up my check and setup Direct Deposit.

Now I’m here.

Guess I’ll read, I’m about 1/7 of the way through the biography of Che Guevara. I can’t wait to finish it, it’s a great book, the writer did a great job at capturing his essence and rise to his ideology, a lot of things are covere in it that most would not know.

I’m also excited to finish it because I have seven other books to finish.

  • The Affluent Worker: Political Attitudes and Behaviour
  • Heresies Right and Left: Some Political Assumptions Reexamined
  • Spearheads for Reform: Social Settlements and the Progressive Movement
  • Fundamentals of Marxism-Leninism
  • Culture and Community
  • The American Class Structure
  • The End of Politics in America: Experience and Possibilities

Should be some good reads, and by publishing this, probably putting me on a government watch list. Whippie! Go go ultranationalist bullshit and “terror” prevention.
