I took some pictures the other day. You should check out my Flickr account. It’s the first pictures I’ve taken in a while, and the first ones from up here. Tonight I should have more. Armada is playing at The Club.

So yesterday Jim Doyle visited our campus. He is issuing a pilot program for four campuses in the UW system. The program is to try and get each campus off the grid (self sustained in renewable energy) in 5 years. Stevens Point is known for conservation, and we’ve currently been on a 50 year plan (2%/3% a year). With being selected, UWSP now has a lot more funding to hopefully carry out this plan.
In about 8 minutes I need to head to the DeBot center. We’re having students sign postcards showing their concern about how student debt is begining to become outrageous. In the past four years, tuition has been growing rapidly. The average student leaves college in debt about 20,000 dollars. October 5th there is a congressional meeting about student debt, and I’ll be there with a few other members from campus. Our goal is to talk to them, hear what they’re doing, and dumping a bunch of these postcards off to them. We can’t take everyone, wish we could, but this is the next best thing.
If you’re a student, and concerned about rising tuition, check out: http://studentdebtalert.org/
Take action, do as much as you can. Get the word out, have your friends take action.
Okay, so this is a little late, but I have been around and been busy and not near my computer. It happens.
On friday, the 22nd, Joe Lally, bassist of Fugazi, played at our campus. It was amazing. It wasn’t anything overly special, but it was enlightening. I guess it depends if you liked Fugazi, or that style. It was very beatnik-ish. Simple bass lines, followed by a student doing very simple beats on the drums using his hands/brushes/etc. He was a very funny modest guy, he’s amazing. All of is songs very well done, his album comes out October 9th.
We found out that Fugazi won’t be comming back for a while, Brendan had another kid, so they’re taking time off for that. Joe said that he did his solo stuff to keep himself occupied, because he loves music. And he is amazing, I was pretty much speechless after the show.
I fucking got to shake Joe’s hand! I normally hate people who are like “oh god I met this person”, but now I am one of those people, I don’t care. It’s Joe Lally!

I know sometimes Google has new features, and I just got hit by one. I can’t always remember how to access Google’s database of musicians and their discography, so I did a search “Lyrics: Against Me!”. PLyrics came up, and I clicked the link.
It forwarded me to a page that brought up a fact it may contain malware, as part of StopBadware.org.
I love Google.
Google Book Search is allowing readers to read books online that are currently being analyzed to be banned from schools and librarys. Some of these books include To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, 1984, and evven Of Mice and Men. All of these books are classics, and have literary value. Sorry they’re actually intellectual and not Spongebob.
Google Book Search: Celebrate Your Freedom to Read
Go read. It’s sad to see what books have been challenged or banned.
Things are going a lot better up here, I’m finally assituated. The only problem is our dorm looks like shit, and it’s because Gryffyn has so much shit. Of course, my desk isn’t cleanly, but there is so much of his crap laying around, I’m not here enough to care, but goddamn. I thought I was a slob.
I saw IV4K on campus two nights ago, that was awesome. We exchanged some contact info because I want to try to get them to play here again.
I’ve been talking to the Mission and I think I should be getting shows up here pretty soon. I’m so stoked.
There’s something wrong, very wrong. Since I’ve come here I’ve been working all the time, I don’t know where my time has gone. I’ve been wandering.
I don’t sleep here, I stay up, I can’t sleep. I don’t eat, I don’t seem to ever be hungry. All I seem to do is work, smoke my cigarettes, and bullshit my time away and try to find ways to find bliss and ignorance so I don’t have to deal with anything.
I miss Jade so much. This move was harder than I thought, I don’t know how to deal with it. I’ve begun to slip so much into a wreck I don’t call her, I always get a chance to only late.
I don’t want to be here anymore.
I’m starting to lose it.
I have a giant ache that goes from my stomach up to my chest. People say I look horrible.
A guy in my hall, a few doors down, named Andrew, asked me today if I was feeling allright.
I’m not.
I’m freezing right now, but its prefectly fine in the room. I’m not homesick, I just want to see Jade.
I want to go to Kenosha, just to see her. I don’t know how to get there.
I want to quit. I hate my job. I hate this place. There’s nothing here.
In the South Quad, around Steiner, Baldwin, Neale, Hansen, there was a couch in the circle area. ITS GONE. Assholes.
So I did just blog a little earlier, but that was before classes. I had English 101 just about an hour an a half ago, all we did was split into a group and get to know each other, typical stuff. The professor seems like a good one, the whole semester is based off of writing a portfolio on something that influences us, then we talk about it, we write another one playing devils advocate, then finally we write our final views. The whole class is based around social interaction, I think I’ll enjoy it. The class was 50 minutes long, I’m not used to such short classes.
After that I headed to Political Science 101, Intro to American Politics. Yeah, lame. It’s like Gov/Pol from ITA all over again. The professor seems a little loopy. He just went over the syllibus (wow bad spelling), had us fill out a notecard with our name, number, email, some interesting facts, and let us go. Just about everyone was a little shell shocked, almost all of the class was freshman, so yeah.
I have to go to work now. It sucks, I work until 9.
