The First Day.

I promised Jade that this morning I’d see her before I left. The plan was for me to wake at 4:45, head there, and have thirt minutes with her before I left. Unfortunately I slept until 5:12, because my dad, thankfully, woke me up. In a fury I hurried myself to head to her house. I got there around 5:25 or so, leaving me little time.

I miss her now, but I am glad I saw her. I had to head home, I packed the last few things. We headed out.

I slept most of the way, I didn’t feel like being awake. It was a cold drive, and I slept in a wierd position that left me irritable. Last night I had packed away my ethernet cord, so I couldn’t double check where I had to meet this morning for ResNet. Thankfully I remembered right, I had to go to 068 ResNet Office in the Debot Centre. The meeting started at 10:00am, but I was about 15 minutes early. We went over a few things, I accessed my account, etc, etc. My coworkers and managers seem like nice guys. One of the other two new employees was there. He seemed a little odd, I recieved a wierd vibe from him. The other new recruit, I forget her name, couldn’t make in into town until tomarrow, where we have another meeting at 9am.

After the meeting I called Jade, but she had forgot her phone at home. She was at an orthodontist appointment, then headed to pick up applications and was tied up.

I met up with my parents, and then we moved my stuff into my dorm. It wasn’t until about 10 minutes later that Gryffyn arrived. All of my stuff was unpacked and put away, we got the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker all set. I took a small video of it, I might put it live tonight. The only issue we have is that we don’t get our lofts until Saturday, we can’t do much organizing until then.

My parents left, I helped Gryffyn move in the rest of his stuff. He didn’t have everything, though. We had to head to his house, thanks to a ride from his girlfriend who dropped us off. We packed some stuff up in his dad’s truck, got a ride back. Unpacked, everything is set.

We decided to go for coffee, so we headed to The Mission Cafe. Gryffyn saw a few people he know, we chit-chatted. He soon found out one of his friends was moving a block from their previous residence, so we helped out. We helped move a little bit, then it ended in a game of hackey sack.

I got hungry, so I headed back to campus. When I got there I wasn’t very hungry anymore, so I went to our dorm. I read my book, tried to get my internet set up. I am now dreading working this weekend, it’s such a pain in the ass. There’s going to be a lot of angry callers.

I want to print out my schedule for work, but smart me forgot to pack printer paper. Woohoo!

Well, after that I just randomly went walking, smoke breaks, etc, etc. I walked to Taco Bell at some time to get some grub. Jade called me back. We talked.

I came back to the dorm and Gryffyn had come back when I was out, we sat and talked. He left not too long ago to go back to his friends. He invited me, but I’m a little tired, and not in the mood to be around a lot of people. I’m not really homesick, but it feels wierd not being able to just go see Jade, or hang with Mark, or Boomer, which has been my previous routine. I’ve spent almost every minute of the past two weeks with them.

Tonight Sucks.

Well, this is my last night in Kenosha, Sturtevant, whatever, and it sucks. I was with Jade, it was great. That’s all I wanted.

We went down town, Jade, Christina, and I. We met up with Cody, Mel, Jimmy, Adam, Tom, Elen, Josh and Kim.

But it went bad soon after. Jimmy, jokingly, I believe, bumped and grinded on Jade front and back, which pissed me off. He’s very touchy feely. I ignored it. But when he was done he said “It’s going to be a while before I can do that” THAT Pissed me off. He’s moving to fucking Milwaukee. Jade and I, who are deeply involved, we found Love, are being seperated by 3 hours and almost no visiting time. I spased, I saw red. I almost pummeled Jimmy, but I held back. Jade started to cry and said she was going to walk by the lake, I went behind my car.

10-o-clock rolled around, I saw everyone buy Jimmy, and Adam pile into the car. I figured they were behind me with Jade and Christina talking. I was wrong. I got up, no one was there. I haven’t been able to contact any of them since then, I don’t know where Jade went.

It really pisses me off, this was my last night, we were supposed to hang out as much as possible and then she disappeared. I’m not really mad at her, just upset, and not at her, but myself. I don’t want to only have a short time later today with her.

This night is great.

I can’t sleep, behind me I have Al and Boomer passed out. We watched all the old videos, remembered old times, I really enjoyed this night, going to be a long time before this happens again.

I have all my clothes packed, they fit into one medium sized suitcase. I just need to do a bit more laundry, then all my clothees will be set.

Two more days and I’m leaving. I figured out space for the move would only allow two people to come with, so I think Brian and Al might help move me in.

“Rich,educated people are not fat.”

Fat is not a feminist issue, as Susie Orbach once claimed. Fat is a
class issue. Rich, educated people are not fat; you see almost no
children in private schools who are overweight. Fatness and obesity are
directly related to lower education and lower incomes.

This writer, Minette Marrin, of Times UK, wrote a lovely article referring to obesity by class. Rich kids in private schools aren’t fat! Only low income kids in public school! That makes perfect sense, if you’re off your rocker. (I’m not sure how things in the UK are, but this is probably being thought of here.)

It does have to do with finances, however. Public schools look for cheap food that they can serve their children, and not go under. But now there are new, healthier alternative companys schools can go to, that are even cheaper! I wish I could remember their name, one is based here in Wisconsin. One of the students in my senior class tried to even get it passed to switch.

But, also, this is the same with Catholic schools. Brian went to one, he dscribed the food no better than what I was eating. Now, this is Kenosha we’re talking about. What if we were to focus on Lake Forest? That whole town is rich, so the schools get more taxes, and therefor can do more.

But that reflects the local economy, not class.

The report claims that by 2010, 13m adults and 1m children will be obese. Perhaps this would change if Americans didn’t just stuff their faces and eat out everynight. It’s called portions, not eat until your stuffed. It’s called that’s what you get for order Whoppers and Big Macs. I have no sympathy. It isn’t hard to change where your weight is going. If you see you’re getting obese, stop it. If you can’t, and you chose to live like that, well I don’t care. Don’t complain.

Besides, there is the embarrassing fact that those who eat and drink
junk do so for cheap comfort and because they are either too poor or
too ignorant (or both) to prepare healthy food.

When’s the last time you saw a fat hobo? I’ve never see an obese homeless person. Now, there is validity in that statement about ignorance. Lazy parents who do not feel like actually working for their children, pop them $10, let them order a bunch of fast food to shut them up. Also, it depends where you buy food. I’m cheap, and usually am not home to prepare a meal, so I stop off at Taco Bell for a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito. It’s $1.04, and not too bad for me. Now, there’s others who’d go to McDonalds and order a Big Mac, which is infact less filling and cost much more.

“More young people are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes,” which is rare, and scary. It isn’t supposed to show until age 40. This is also due to the high sugar content in most of our foods, or possibly the odds and ends they pump into our food to make it “better.”

It is also the consumers fault, but it is also the companys. There’s a nice thing called social reponsibility:

Occurs when a retailer acts in the best interests of
society — as well as itself. The challenge is to balance corporate
citizenship with a fair level of profits.

These fast food companys should also be working to fight obesity, instead of their rich corporate bastards sitting in their desk chair, collecting their cash.

4 Days

Today is Sunday the 27th, scary. It’s getting closer and closer to moving. The whole move isn’t the problem, it’s just not being able to hang or see three very great people on a day-to-day basis. I guess I’ll live?

Tonight my parents are having a little cookout, leaving party, thing. Brian and his family is headed here, Jeff and his family, Mark and Liberty, and of course Jade.

I had an odd urge to begin reading again, I’ve nearly cleared out the rest of The Elegant Universe in one day. I had only finished one-third of it and randomly stopped reading. I also purchased the biography on Che Guevara, which is about 754 pages.

I can’t remember if I posted this before, but I don’t work in Labs anymore at UWSP. I work with ResNET, making $8.75 an hour at twenty hours a week, the whole semester. I don’t think it’ll be too bad, but I don’t quite know around finals.

Well I just woke up, don’t feel like doing much. Jade’s out to dinner with her Father and Grandmother until about 12:30, then I’m hanging with her, until about 4:00 when I’m bringing everyone back over here for the cookout thing.

Fans and Artists First!

The music industry is suffering. The major record
labels – which rely on CDs for most of their revenue – are in decline.
CD sales in the US have dropped more than 20 percent from a peak of
$13.4 billion in 2000. But don’t be fooled: The market for music is
thriving. With the rise of peer-to-peer networks, the iPod, and other
digital technologies – plus a 100 percent jump in concert ticket sales
since 1999 – the world is awash in music. The industry now has more
sources of revenue – ringtones, concert tickets, license agreements
with TV shows and videogames – than ever before.

Record labels have always been the center of gravity in the industry
– the locus of power, ideas, and money. Labels discovered the talent,
pushed the songs, and got the product on the air and into stores. The
goal: move records, and later, CDs. “The labels were never in the
business of selling music,” says David Kusek, vice president of
Boston’s Berklee College of Music and coauthor of The Future of Music. “They were in the business of selling plastic discs.”

Musicians generally make very little from the sale of their records.
The costs of production, marketing, and promotion are charged against
sales, and even if they go multiplatinum and cover those costs, their
cut of any extra revenue is usually less than 10 percent. On top of
this, the labels typically retain the copyrights to the recordings,
which allows them to profit from the musicians’ catalogs indefinitely.
“It’s as if you received a loan for a house,” says Ed Robertson, one of
BNL’s lead vocalists. “But when you finish paying off that loan, the
label says thank you and keeps the house.”

WiredNews is reporting that a Canadian Record Label is finally doing what all labels should do, focus on the artist, fan, and music. Their company lets the artists run the record, but the company becomes management, publishing, and recording. It’s almost how I have setup NMD Records to run. All I do is try to help manage the signed bands, put out CDs, and just try to go the extra length the band may not have been able to. I keep a small profit off CD sales, but they make most of the money, more than I make.

Six More Days.

Yesterday Lynn left for Whitewater, she got to move in really early because she joined colour guard. I was with Mark, we decided to randomly stop over there. Everyone was awake and in the kitchen, it was wierd. I thought it’d be cool to tag along, so Mark and I did. Brian’s dad even put enough gas in my car for the ride up and back.

It was fun, minus the storm. On the way up it wasn’t too bad, but on the way back I had about 4/5 ft visibility and was hydroplaning.

I’m doing some laundry right now, I want it to be done, I wanna go back into town.

World Can’t Wait

I just got back from Chicago a while ago. I actually got back in town at 11:22pm, but I stopped over at Jade’s.

Today was very relaxing, until about 5.

I woke up around 11:30am, I don’t know why, but I haven’t been motivated to wake up lately. I woke up at went downstairs, got ready to go. I got in a little fight with my mom, then left to Jade’s.

I hung out with her until I left.

I went to Chicago for a World Can’t Wait meeting. There was seven of us, we met at Filter cafe. The ride was bad, I had to drive through rush hour, it was annoying. The organizer, Abbie, was already there with Andrea, and I can’t remember the other girls name for the life of me. Soon Clay, and this other girl with a very odd name, came up. A few minutes Keith showed up. The meeting went well. I’m going to help them with spreading the word via MySpace, and organizing their own MySpace account. I’m also going to help take charge in organizing around a few campuses in Wisconsin.

Well, I’m saving some new CDs to my computer, and I’m tired, and my hand hurts. Bye.

No looking back.

Wow. It’s already Sunday. This is insane, in about ten days I’ll be moved.

These past few days have been somewhat depressing. Marshall left us today. He’s going to school in Illinois. Lynn’s upset, understandably. Liberty was also informed she was being kicked out, she has 2 weeks. Originally it was 3, but she’s moving with her grandparents and transferring to a Walgreens down there in Zion, she can only switch if she left a week early. Then me moving final struck Jade and I hard  after all of this.

The move doesn’t bother me. It’s just that I won’t be able to be around Jade, Mark, and Boomer.

Hell, Boomer’s house is going to be dead quiet. Lynn, Marshall, and Myself are going to be gone.

I’m also typing wierd because my right hand is messed up and in a splint, I’m typing single handedly, and about to quit.
